Enriching Lives and Our Planet

Corteva Agriscience is committed to advancing sustainable agriculture to enrich lives and our planet for generations to come. We’ve established 14 goals to achieve by 2030 that will increase the resilience of our global food system.

Sustainability goals

Goals to Benefit Farmers

Our 2030 Goals

We set forth goals to improve farmers’ livelihoods and operations while conserving resources and sustaining the land. Our 10-year commitments will provide tools and training to increase yield stability, optimize inputs, and improve climate resilience.

Provide Training to Farmers

Provide training to 25 million farmers on soil health, nutrient and water stewardship, and productivity best practices by 2030.

We’re expanding the ways we share information about the latest advances and technology with farmers.

Enrich the Lives of Smallholder Farmers

Increase the productivity, incomes, and sustainable farming practices of 500 million smallholder farmers cumulatively through 2030.

Up to 80 percent of the food supply in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa is produced by smallholder farmers. We’re committed to providing them with access to tools, solutions, and agronomic support.

Decrease Greenhouse Gas Emissions while Increasing Yields

Enable farmers to sustainably increase crop yields by 20 percent while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent within cropping systems compared to 2020.

We’re delivering best practices and innovations to advance productivity, while protecting our planet.

Sustainability goals

Goals to Benefit The Land

Our 2030 Goals

We’re dedicated to protecting the land, crop yields, and the long-term success of the agriculture industry. We know that soil health, water, and biodiversity are all interconnected in delivering benefits for an affordable and abundant food supply.

Improved Soil Health

Improve soil health on 30 million hectares by 2030.

We’ll provide tools and innovations to improve soil health to increase the capacity of crops to withstand weather variability, enhance air and water quality, and support thriving habitats.

Advance Water Stewardship

Accelerate improvement in nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) across global agricultural land by 2030. Reduce water consumption while increasing yields on 2.5 million hectares of seed production and water stressed agricultural land by 2030 compared to 2020.

When nitrogen is used efficiently, plants grow better and the surrounding natural resources are protected. Our nitrogen stabilizers apply advanced technology to increase nitrogen use efficiency. We'll also implement strategies to improve water use efficiency in water-stressed areas.

Enhance Biodiversity

Enhance biodiversity on over 10 million hectares of grazing lands and natural ecosystems globally through sustainable management practices and habitat conservation by 2030.

Biodiversity is the basis of agriculture and our food systems. We’re forming partnerships to expand habitat creation and developing new technologies for land management.

Sustainability goals

Goals to Benefit Our Communities

Our 2030 Goals

We’re helping farming communities thrive by uplifting our customers and colleagues in agriculture, and the communities where we live and work. We’re committed to championing and protecting people throughout the food system and the broader agriculture community.

Keep Employees Safe

Improve soil health on 30 million hectares by 2030.

Protect the health and safety of people at our facilities and those working in agriculture.

Agriculture ranks among the most hazardous industries worldwide. To support farmers, we need to ensure that we keep the agricultural workforce safe and healthy.

Empower Women, Enable Youth, and Engage Communities

Empower women, enable youth, and engage communities in all of the global communities where we have corporate operations and all of the countries where we do business by 2030.

We believe that agricultural communities benefit from economic opportunity and social inclusion for all. We’re expanding local outreach worldwide through the Corteva Grows program.

Volunteer One Million Hours

Volunteer one million Corteva employee hours to support people and communities globally by 2030.

Our 20,000-plus employees can be a powerful force for good to help others and the broader agricultural community. We’re providing more local volunteer opportunities through the Corteva Grows program.

Increase Supply Chain Transparency

Increase supply chain transparency from farmers to consumers, by leveraging digital tools that enable farmers to create additional value through transparency in agriculture markets, food systems, and communities.

Transparency is critical to sustainability. More than ever, consumers and stakeholders want to know how food is produced. Through digital tools, we’ll help farmers track and share information openly.

Sustainability goals

Goals to Benefit Our Operations

Our 2030 Goals

We’re committed to increasing the sustainability of our operations and the solutions we provide to farmers. Our 10-year commitments include innovating sustainably, establishing a climate strategy, using only sustainable packaging, and increasing our sites’ sustainability efforts.

Require Sustainability Criteria for New Products

Every new Corteva Agriscience product will meet our sustainability criteria by 2025.

Transformation and innovation in our agricultural system is vital to meeting future challenges. That’s why every new product concept we develop will meet specific sustainability criteria before it’s advanced into our product innovation pipeline.

Manage Our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions

Establish our climate strategy for scope one, two, and three emissions, including appropriate reduction targets by June 1 2021.

We can lead by example in the effort to mitigate climate change by focusing on renewable and efficient energy opportunities, and establishing a 10-year emission reduction plan.

Scope one emissions occur from sources that are owned or controlled by the company. Scope two accounts for GHG emissions from the generation of purchased electricity consumed by the company. Scope three emissions are a consequence of the activities of the company, but occur from sources not owned or controlled by the company. Learn more about emissions standards at https://ghgprotocol.org/.

Use Only Sustainable Packaging

All packaging will be reusable or recyclable by 2030.

Sustainable packaging reduces overall plastic use and waste. We’re developing new processes and technologies that allow all packaging to be reused or recycled.

Increase Our Sites' Sustainability Efforts

Operate every Corteva Agriscience site more sustainably through waste reduction, water conservation, and enhanced biodiversity.

We’re working toward zero-landfill status for all seed operations and are conserving water in high-stress areas. We'll also employ biodiversity best practices on all Corteva sites and research farms.

Sustainability goals

“Understanding the needs and interests of our stakeholders has been crucial to our strategy, identifying priorities and targeting activity where we can have the most positive impact. It will be equally crucial, as we monitor and report on progress.”
