A New Option for Lasting Weed Control

Tough-to-control weeds, including smartweed, alligatorweed and yellow nutsedge, are no match for the power of Novixid® herbicide.

With the expanded availability of Novixid, Mid-South rice producers now have a new postemergence option to control grass, sedge and broadleaf weeds as well as aquatics.

Novixid, the newest weed control product in the Corteva Agriscience™ portfolio of rice herbicides, is a systemic herbicide, which is both taken up by the plant roots and absorbed by the foliage. With the proven benefits of Rinskor® active and penoxsulam, Novixid gives growers two active ingredients and two modes of action — Groups 4 and 2 — for long-lasting, broad-spectrum weed control.

When it launched in 2020, Novixid was only available in Louisiana, but the rice herbicide is now available across the entire Mid-South region. The herbicide also fits into multiple rice production and water management systems.

“In comparison to competing sulfonylurea herbicides, Novixid offers improved control of aquatic weeds, especially alligatorweed and ducksalad,” says Malori Lansing, south Louisiana territory manager, Corteva Agriscience. “Novixid also offers more consistent foliar control and longer residual activity of troublesome barnyardgrass when treated early.”

Where Novixid shines is in the consistent, economical aquatic and broadleaf weed control.

Novixid should be applied at the labeled rate of 27.4 ounces per acre to healthy, actively growing weeds. Sequential applications of Novixid are not recommended, and growers should avoid the use of Facet herbicide when including Novixid in their season-long weed control plans.
