Acres of Enlist E3® Soybeans Rising – So Is Demand for Enlist Herbicides

As more farmers adopt Enlist E3® soybeans in 2021, retailers will need to be ready to supply Enlist herbicides for those acres. Retailers can help their customers develop a program approach to weed control that features multiple herbicide sites of action to keep weeds down.

Retailers have tough decisions to make heading into next year’s growing season: Which products to carry and what volume of those products to keep on hand. As you prepare for 2021, be aware of the rise in acres planted to Enlist E3® soybeans and the demand for Enlist herbicides to treat those acres.

“Corteva has projected demand for Enlist E3 soybeans of more than 30% market share in the U.S. next spring,” says Shawna Hubbard, trait herbicide manager for Corteva Agriscience. “The adoption of this technology continues to be rapid.”

Farmers are moving to Enlist E3® soybeans for several key reasons, foremost being the positive results they’re seeing in test plots, neighboring farms and their own fields.

“Customers who’ve planted Enlist E3 soybeans are seeing how effective Enlist herbicides are,” says Dan Puck, Enlist™ field specialist. “They’re seeing clean fields and control of weeds that they’ve had trouble with in recent years.”

They’re also enjoying other benefits. Enlist One® herbicide offers exceptional tank-mix flexibility. Farmers and applicators appreciate the ability to tank-mix Enlist One with Durango® DMA® herbicide (glyphosate) and Liberty® herbicide (glufosinate). They also can add qualified AMS products to the tank for optimized performance of Liberty and qualified glyphosate tank mix partners. The dicamba herbicides registered for use with dicamba-tolerant crops don’t offer Liberty herbicide and or AMS products as qualified tank-mix options.

Enlist Duo® herbicide is a convenient blend of 2,4-D choline and glyphosate. It offers exceptional control of broadleaf weeds and grasses as well as on-target application benefits.

In addition, Enlist herbicides fit well in corn and soybean country. Soybeans without the Enlist E3 trait are a compatible crop, meaning farmers who use Enlist herbicides can apply right up to where the fields meet even if the wind is blowing toward the soybeans without the Enlist E3 trait.

With so many farmers switching to Enlist E3 soybeans, retailers have an opportunity to provide valuable help to their customers. Visit Enlist.com to brush up on the Enlist™ trait and Enlist herbicides. Help farmers understand the value of multiple sites of action in controlling weeds both now and down the road. And make sure you have plenty of Enlist herbicides on hand to meet the rising demand for this technology.

Enlist Ahead resources are designed to help folks get the most out of the Enlist system - flexible weed management plans and effective herbicide applications,” Hubbard says. “We want applicators and growers to be successful with this technology. Retailers can help their customers get better results by sharing information and helping them develop a solid program approach featuring Enlist herbicides.”

The transgenic soybean event in Enlist E3 soybeans is jointly developed and owned by Dow AgroSciences LLC and MS Technologies LLC. Liberty is a registered trademark of BASF. Enlist Duo, Enlist One and Durango DMA herbicides are not registered for sale or use in all states or counties. Contact your state pesticide regulatory agency to determine if a product is registered for sale or use in your area. Enlist Duo and Enlist One are the only 2,4-D products authorized for use with Enlist crops. Consult Enlist herbicide labels for weed species controlled. Always read and follow label directions.
