Product Selection, Timing Key to Postemergence Weed Control

Earlier postemergence applications allow for more effective control of tough and resistant weed species. That’s why it’s important for your customers to scout corn fields regularly and keep a pulse on emergence timing and what types of weeds are present.
Waiting until more weeds surface in fields before spraying will allow some of the earlier-emerging weeds to get beyond a reasonable height for control.
To maximize efficacy, postemergence corn herbicides should be applied when:
- Weeds are less than 6 inches tall, actively growing and not under stress.
- The air temperature is 75 to 85 F.
- There is no rain in the forecast for at least a few hours.

Postemergence products should be part of a complete program approach to weed control and complement the preemergence herbicides already on the field.
